Wouldn't be nice if all cities were like Milton Keynes

Over the past week and a bit I have been sharing my passion that Milton Keynes should be awarded a city charter within the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration. SADLY MY PASSION HAS NOT BEEN ATTRACTING ANY ATTENTION.

I have, however, found someone who just may be able to take my writings and use them at a higher level to give us not MILTON DREAMS THE CITY THAT NEVER WAS but MILTON KEYNES THE CITY THAT TRULY IS.

Today I want to offer a thought about TWINNING Milton Keynes with another city in a totally different part of the world.

Town, city and village twinning has traditionally been associated with Europe. AH ! Europe – The European Union – Milton Keynes does not have anything worthy of linking to that area of the world.

Given that we are seeking to be awarded city status within the Queen’s Jubilee should we perhaps turn to somewhere further afield but closer to the heart. In so doing a country which has a significant community within Milton Keynes.

In the days of the British Empire, something I actually have slightly awkward feelings about, India was the jewel in the crown. India as it was then now makes up three different countries but can we forget those national boundaries. I am suggesting we look at the Indian Subcontinent as a whole if we are to consider any future twinning.

What do you think ?
