Here we are again t oday

DAY FORTY-SIX: Monday 15th February  2021:

Here we are half way through the second month of the year 2021. I was wondering last night what those who open my tine capsule on 1st January 2121 will make of my daily babbling and scribble. Will they think I am mad ?  One day I say one thing then the next say something quite different, hopping from one foot to the other then completely turning a summersault. I wish I could turn a summersault LITERALLY. But that is what a diary is all about isn’t it ?  Not simply saying what a person has done but how they felt about it. With the pandemic lock down I  do not physically do a lot so much of what I write about is what is going on in my head.

I have many times criticised the government for doing too little too late and for Boris Johnson failing to show leadership. Our prime minister could not inspire a rice pudding to crawl but we are seeing some good things happenings, good things which are better than any other country in the world.

The vaccination programme will go down in history as a logistic genius. However, we have to silence the fools who keep demanding lock down is eased. I have had my first jab and Maureen had her first jab the day before yesterday. On that same day my Mum (aged 92) and my Dad (aged 95) had their vaccinations. Boris may not be showing inspiration to the country but Matt Handcock is big time. Does that man ever sleep ?  I wrote to my local MP saying that. He failed to reply of course but that is his normal way.

You can probably judge by my tone that I am feeling good today. So let’s help everyone who one day will get to read this diary to feel good.

SMILE OF THE DAY: Today, take a few minutes to sit quietly and be thankful for all you have.

Be you one of the tiny handful who read this page on Google Blogger, a grand total of four yesterday, or what I hope will be an international audience in 2021 please take those words for yourself and act on them.=

SMILE OF THE DAY: Today, take a few minutes to sit quietly and be thankful for all you have.

I wrote 7,986 words yesterday in my one million word challenge. That is a daily record. My total stands at 335,315 words. I have 9 books published on AMAZON with 2 pending. My challenge is to write one million words and publish 24 e-books with Amazon by 31st December 2021.

Having yesterday submitted the finished text for THE SECRET DIARY OF AN OLD MAN AGED THIRTEEN AND THREE QUARTERS to Amazon for publication I am now 1967 into A STAIRCASE OF WORDS where I am speaking about books I have read through my life and how they have influenced and inspired me to write myself. I am very keen to get back to working on it this morning.

Before I do that, after breakfast, I have to deliver this week’s SMILE envelopes to Dreamasi, one hundred envelopes containing bits and pieces which all add up to love. SMILING envelopes of love which will be added to the utterly incredible food parcels Dreamsai takes every week-end to vulnerable people. I also have to post envelopes of SMILES, quiz

Let’s see what was happening ON THIS DAY:

15th February 1952: King George V is buried in Saint George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

15th February 1971 The decimalisation of British currency is completed.

15th February 1989: The Soviet Union officially announces that all of its troops have left Afghanistan.

WHO THE HELL ?  Each day I check the Wikipedia list of people who were born on this day but I seldom recognise any of them so let’s change this part of the feature to WHO THE HELL ?

15th February 1951 Markku Alen Finnish race car driver was born. WHO THE HELL !

15th February 1953: Ernie Howe, footballer, was born. WHO THE HELL !

15th February 1958: Tony McKegney, Canadian ice hockey player born. WHO THE HELL !

15th February 1976 Oscar Freire, Spanish cyclist born. WHO THE HELL !

15th February 1982: James Yap, Filipino basketball player born. WHO THE HELL !

15th February 1993: Ravi South Korean rapper born. WHO THE HELL !

15th February 1965: Nat King Cole born 1919 died

15th February 1970 Air Marshall Hugh Dowding born 1882 died

Adding figures of those who were hit by china virus yesterday: 13,502 new cases in the UK with 621 deaths. Locally to where I lived 37 more cases and 1 death. As I try each day to think of the real people behind the figures I wonder how accurate the figures are. They jump up and down, not following a true pattern. I again here record that as a nation we are not properly respecting and honouring those who have died. I again say that our monarch should be sending condolences to every family losing someone. I am a royalists but here our head of state is not honouring her subjects who have died. I wonder what those reading my diary in 2121 will make of that.

A slightly shorter diary entry to day, slightly shorter than usual – 896 words to this point. I will share SMILE of the day again then sign off:

Today, take a few minutes to sit quietly and be thankful for all you have.

Speak again tomorrow

Dave
