We need to recruit teenagers and young adults
DAY FIFTEEN: Friday 15th January 2021:
Teenagers and young adults are the most
important members of our society, it is they who will shape our future and yet
their lives right now are being torn apart more than any others.
WE NEED TEENAGERS AND YOUNG ADULTS.
Are you a parent of a teenager ? Are you a grandparent of a teenager or young
adult ? PLEASE will you invite them to join our Facebook group – THE SUNSHINE
SMILE CREW and each day share our SMILE OF THE DAY.
We have a membership of ninety-four members
in The Sunshine Smile Crew. Say we had a membership of five hundred and every
day every single person shared a smile. If every one of those five hundred had
five hundred friends on facebook that would be 250,000 – a quarter of a
million.
When you look at the rubbish some people put
up on facebook that is, may I suggest, an indication of sadness. If we had
enough people we could fire up happiness big time.
The WAVE OF LOVE flows in two directions, the more you give out the more you receive.
Teenagers and young adults are having their lives ripped to pieces. It may be a small thing but it is a powerful thing – task as many teenagers with SMILING and we can give them something positive in their shattered lives.
So today’s SMILE OF THE DAY: Someday
we will look back at this moment, and it will remind us to NEVER take little
things for granted.
We need to get that message out to as many people as possible, we need more and more and more members within the SunshineSmile Crew to get the message out, we need teenagers and young adults to SMILE.
Have you, like me, been wondering if we will
ever get out of this pandemic ? With new variants coming in to attack us will
we ? Do you trust our government ? I don’t !
Tardy is an understatement, if the government had acted more quickly
from Day One would we be where we are ? Does Boris Johnson know what leadership
is ? NOPE he does not. He sets the rules then gets on his bike to
break them. If not the letter of the law then certainly the spirit of the law.
Seriously I think it is time to have a
government of national unity. I want to be a part of that government, I want to
be Minister For Smiles. I want in my team thousands and thousands of teenagers
and young adults.
Let’s take a break for a moment and check out
the regular feature ON THIS DAY.
15th January 1973: President
Richard Nixon announces the suspension of offensive in North Vietnam. That was
a good day !
15th January 2001: Wikipedia goes
on-line. I use it every day.
15th January 2009: US Airways
Flight 149 ditches safely in the Husdson River saving the lives of all 155
people on board. I remember that.
15th January 2019: Theresa May’s government
suffers the biggest government defeat in modern times. Another failing prime
minister.
Loads of people were born on this date in
history but I’ve never heard of any of them. HOWEVER
15th January 1972 Daisy Ashford
the author died aged 91 years of age. Now I know who she was, I am not the
first Ashford to write stories.
15th January 1994 Singer Harry
Nilsson, born 1941, died. Great music.
Daisy Ashford was not a prolific writer like her descendent, Yours Truly. So far this year, two weeks into the year, I have written 179,997 words with 1,889 yesterday. That’s a bit less than my average so far in 2021. Need to step up things today.
Today I am going to get stuck into my story
BY THE PRICKING OF MY THUMBS. I have a
lot of ideas ready to wrap into the story.
Yesterday I was working on a collection of
our quiz sheets to send to Flowers Care Home and start regular weekly letters
for residents and care staff. These quiz sheets as I write them will be going
into the book WHO NEEDS A PUB TO HAVE A QUIZ. For the week after, week
beginning Monday 25th January I would like to send a series of quiz
sheets which I will call DECADES. One for each 1940’s, The Rock And Roll 1950’s,
The Swinging 60’s, Disco 70’s, Retro 80’s and Naughty 90’s.Six quiz sheets,
each with 30 questions = 180 questions. For the pub quiz book I want to have
one thousand questions.
I am trying to encourage people as they put
their heads on their pillows at night to spend a moment thinking of those who
lost their lived through the pandemic, to send love to their families and all
who cared for them. Yesterday there were 47,525 new cases, that is a serious
and incomprehensible number. The media could not publish the number of deaths
as their counting system failed. I had to lay my head on the pillow not knowing
how many losses there were. This morning it turns out there were 1,564. I may
be a prolific writer but I can not put into words the sadness surrounding just
a single family in the list. More than TWO MILLION people have now died from
china virus.
There is now a World Health Organisation team
in China investigating the origin of the virus ? What will they find ? Will we ever know ?
The world needs teenagers and young adults to
rebuild our world. We need teenagers and young adults to be more effective than
our failing government. We need teenagers and young adults to show leadership.
We need teenagers and young adults to join The Sunshine Smile Crew.
SMILE OF THE DAY: Someday we will look back at this moment, and it will remind us to
NEVER take little things for granted.
Please help recruit new members to help
spread the smiles.
Speak again tomorrow
Dave
