A beautiful day full of loving hugs
DAY FIVE: Tuesday 5th January 2021:
Yesterday was a good day for me, it was a very good day. Actually I need to rephrase that: Some beautiful people put their arms around me, gave me a huge hug and made my day special. Please note you do not need to social distance when you give someone a hug of love. That hug comes from the heart and does not involve the use of arms.
When I heard the bin lorry drive into our road I went outside to thank our incredibly hard binmen for all they have done over the past year. Socially distanced I gave one guy a ten pound note. The love and thanks he gave back to me was a hug worth ten million pounds.
I have been watching the TV news first thing this morning and listened to one headmaster speaking. He said that in frantically trying to contact parents last night after the government’s handbrake turn he was urging everyone to be kind.
Yesterday I e-mailed Ian, the headmaster of the secondary school I support, I began by saying do not bother to reply to this e-mail as you are far too busy. Within the hour I received a cyber hug from the entire school.
I took envelopes containing Smile Cards and a special quiz sheet for our NHS to post to University Hospital Milton Keynes, Stoke Manderville Hospital, Luton and Dunstable Hospital. The lady who owns the post office always called every customer “My Darling”. So I go in to buy £7 worth of postage, my letters head off to their destinations and I come out with a hug of love. I and every customer who enters the shop.
The seven hundred gifts from Jollyes Pet Supermarket were packed into my car then unloaded at The Frank Moran Centre to be added to the Food Bank tables for pets in need. Frank Moran is part of West Bletchley Council upon which I am proud to serve as a councillor, leaving Frank Moran I went to the council offices. Entering with my face mask and having sanitised my hands staff smiled and said, “So it’s Easter.” They knew why I was there as I handed over a card, lots of Smile Cards and Cadburys Cream Eggs. One staff member said “You are a star !” I replied, “NO, you are the stars. Thank you for all you are doing in these hard times.” I should also have said Thank You for the hug you are all giving me.
Officially I am still Chairman of West Bletchley Police Forum but obviously we can not have meetings. However, I am trying to do my bit. Yesterday I took Happy New Year cards, Smile Cards and a Quiz For Cops to our community policing team.
This week’s quiz for Dreamsai is Captain Noah And His Floating Zoo. Copies were put into the collecting box in Morrissons together with a few food items and copies of our Smile Of The Day.
Here’s today’s SMILE OF THE DAY:
If nobody told you
today
You’re beautiful
You’re loved
You’re needed
You’re alive for a
reason
You’re stronger
than you think
You’re gonna get
through this
Don’t give up.
On this day 5th January 1998 Sonny Bono was killed in a tragic skiing accident at South Lake Tahoe on the California Nevada border. I have been to South Lake Tahoe several times, it is a beautiful place. At the time of his death Sonny was a US politician. In my teenage years he was a singer, a hippy singer with Cher. Sonny and Cher.
As a teenager I loved their music: I Got You Babe. My Mum did not think that Sonny and Cher were the sort of people her son should idolise and did not like me listening to their music. Sonny and Cher would never amount to anything. Mum, you got that wrong didn’t you ? Sonny Bono serving his country and Cher now an international icon.
I had a good day yesterday selling my books: fifty-seven copies. I guess that takes me about 1% of the way towards becoming an Amazon best seller. The top ten UK writers receive £250,000 a month in bonuses. Nah, I don’t need that, a quarter of a million pounds could never hug me the was those beautiful people did yesterday. CHECK MY BOOKSHELF
This morning my jukebox will be playing music of peace and love, a couple of years before 1967 and its summer of love I will be inviting my teenagers to listen to Sonny And Cher’s I Got You Babe.
I expect to finish the book by the end of the week and publish it on Amazon at the staggering price of 77p. I was planning to roll it out via schools as something positive for teenagers who are going through hell right now as their important fun and formative years are being destroyed by the pandemic. It was also a way for them to give a hug of love to their grandparents. Now with schools closed I have to find a different route to getting the music out to people, to teenagers you and old, to teenagers of all aged from thirteen to one hundred and thirteen.
So Boris Johnson made a handbrake turn yesterday. I never thought he would but thank goodness he did. Four hundred and seven more people died yesterday and fifty-eight thousand, seven hundred and fifty four more people were diagnosed with covid-19. Can we please stop this talk of preventing our NHS from being overwhelmed, IT IS ALREADY OVERWHELMED. Staff are tired, suffering mental anguish but even if case numbers doubled they would still be there hugging patients with love. Our NHS does not treat patients, it CARES for them – cares with LOVE.
The media is making a big thing about the vaccinations, there is an element of propaganda
there but I hope this is moral boosting and the vaccine will work. The media featured big time yesterday a renal patient from Churchill Hospital in Oxford. I know the renal ward at Churchill Hospital so well, that was where Rebekah was treated. My car could drive itself from Milton Keynes to the hospital on its own. Next Monday the NHS Quiz and Smile Cards will wend their way to the hospital staff. For the Dreamsai food boxes next week I have written a wordsearch – SPECIAL PEOPLE. Lots of special people at this time are included but the word YOU can be found many, many times. I have whacked out a few quid on Amazon to buy rolls of smile stickers, with the wordsearch next week there will be smile stickers for those receiving the boxes to use as they give out hugs of love.
Today I am going to write a quiz: FAMOUS POLITICIANS – should that be INFAMOUS policies ? The first question will be: Which party did Screaming Lord Such belong to ? The answer is The Monster Raving Looney Party.
Yesterday I wrote a wordsearch specially for Saint Valentines Day. I have introduced it with these words: SUNDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2021 THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LOVE - With the terrible times the world is going through let’s change Saint Valentine’s Day this year into THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LOVE – Love, kindness, friendship, happiness and smiles to everyone. Within this special wordsearch how many loving words can you find ? Find them, act on them and share them on this THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LOVE
That wordsearch I plan to twin with a quiz of love then to send copies to hundreds of people far and wide.
