Looking for a bit of encouragement ! Any offres ?

One million. One MAGIC MILLION is within my sight.

When the pandemic hit last year and turned 2020 into The Year That Never Was there were those who suffered mental depression. I was one of them. I suffered much mental stress.

I had previously been working between 60 and 80 hours a week in a variety of voluntary activities. I loved every minute. When all was taken away and lock down imposed I nearly went crazy. From 60 to 80 hours a week I went to nothing. I just could not cope.

Having been writing stories since I was a teenager and publishing on Amazon for a little over three years I turned to my hobby in order to keep myself busy and retain a degree of sanity. Within that year 2020, the year that never was, I wrote 528,254 words published within fifteen kindle e-books. (Want a laugh ? That's me as a teenager - on the right !)

As 2020 neared its end it became apparent that 2021 was going to be the same. The voluntary work I had been doing was not going to come back and even if it had my mental state had changed, I was not feeling depressed but I did not think my mental state could accommodate a return to the way things had been in 2019.

Barbra Cartland in 1974 set a world record publishing twenty-three books in a single year. Could I beat that record ?  I thought I could. I decided to write a minimum of twenty-four books and wrap them in a minimum of one million words. Not difficult, 2,740 words a day. Guinness Book Of Records here I come !

Well perhaps not.

Here I am on Saturday 3rd July, just over half way through the year and I have published with Amazon thirty-one books. My word total as of yesterday was 989,749 so that Magic Million is but a day or so away. He ! He !I have TRASHED Barbra Cartland’s world record. Have I ?

The Guinness Book of Records is not the fun thing it was when The McWhirter Twins hosted

the TV show Record Breakers. You have to pay an upfront fee before the publisher will consider anything and their speed of operation resembles a snail overtaking a three legged centipede with a Zimmer frame ! I can imagine their saying the way Barbra Cartland published in the 1970’s is not the same as Kindle e-books of the 2020’s. To be fair it is not so Barbra you hang on to your record.

Instead I am going to set a brand new record staking a claim to be THE MOST PROLIFIC WRITER OF AMAZON KENDLE E-BOOKS.

I am going to spread this challenge over three years. I am going back to 1st January 2020 and the books I published in that year that never was. Half way through 2021 I will continue writing at the same pace I have been during the first six months. The looking ahead to 2022 I will close my challenge on 31st December and offer my achievement to Amazon.

I think it reasonable across those three years to aim for:

·       FIVE MILLION words

·       TWO HUNDRED e-books

That’s fair I think.

The second I hit the MAGIC MILLION I will start work on a book with the title: LIFE IS A NOVEL SO START WRITING. This will be a working log officially recording progress within the challenge.

Google Blogger. At the end of 2016 I started putting posts on Google Blogger and developed quite a good following. My daily readers seldom fell below one hundred and on three occasions topped the thousand. However, Google decided to change the way Blogger works and in so doing totally destroyed it. I and so many users kicked it into touch, readers left in droves. Despite all the complaints Google did nothing to unpick its mess.

I am going to give Google another try. As I work though this challenge I will blog what is happening in the hope that I can attract a bit of a following which will support me and encourage me to become the first Amazon holder of the title being the world’s most prolific writer of Amazon Kindle E-books.
