Buckingham Palace - will you support my letter to HM The Queen

 At a time when Milton Keynes needs a strong local media to support it being awarded city status as part of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee there is nothing but a void.

Our once proud and supportive local newspaper is history. In its place we have a freebie which in most cases goes from the letter box direct to the recycling bin.

The various bits and pieces of failing radio within Milton Keynes together do not make up one programme worth listening to. The BBC “local” station comes from a forty minute drive away broadcasting under the name of BBC Three Counties – Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Milton Keynes is a unitary authority so not part of that area !

As for “local” news that comes from way out East somewhere. Look East it claims as a broadcast title. Look East from it studio and all you will observe is the North Sea ! Look at the BBC local news website and you could think it to be a historical document.

As the person who has over the past thirty years written and published the most when it comes to Milton Keynes being awarded city status I really do not think it is going to happen this tine around !  It is being put forward by politicians who are ignorant of the heritage of our area, a heritage which goes way back before The Doomsday Book. The reasons for city status being quoted by these people are shallow and not stating a sound enough case. We have no proper media to support a case for city status,

My book MILTON DREAMS THE CITY THAT NEVER WAS sets out to spark a dream within we the ordinary people but the people who count that one day we will become a city. I have tried to get people to share the dream but have failed.

Over the next week or so I am going to prepare my own case and write to Buckingham Palace explaining it. When I do this will you give that letter your support ? Let us at least try to change MILTON DREAMS THE CITY THAT NEVER WAS into

MILTON KEYNES THE CITY THAT TRULY IS.

Fenny Poppers – Saint Martins Church in Fenny Stratford Milton Keynes is the only church in the country with a firearms licence ! It needs this to store the gunpowder for the annual firing of Fenny Poppers. I am deeply honoured to have been invited to fire the poppers not once but twice. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all cities were like Miltyon Keynes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Milton Keynes were a city.

2022 will be a year long celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth taking the throne seventy years ago on 6 th February 1952. When it was time for her coronation in June 1953 I was there waving my flag along the route of the procession. Part of this palatium celebration will be to award a city charter to a local authority at present with a borough status. Among them is Milton Keynes from where a formal application I believe has been made. By the end of 2022 I will have established myself as the most prolific writer of e-books on Amazon but at this point in time I believe I am already the most prolific writer of words celebrating Milton Keynes from its birth as an idea in 1967 to the present day, indeed way back before 1967 to the earliest days of time. I believe Milton Keynes deserves city status but if we the citizens of Milton Keynes leave it up to the council and its political member there is more chance of a sparrow flying to the moon !   DAY TWENTY-EIGHT:  Thursday 28 th January 2021: WARNING to those who read Dave’s Diary – The diary nobody reads !   Today’s edition is going to be long, long but I hope within all the words I here put into order will create something powerful. Yesterday was Holocaust Memorial Day. All very well and good, the evil that murdered six million people needs to be remembered but are we remembering the people or are we remembering the evil ? Today all these years later we do not know who the people are, we do not know anyone who knew anyone who died. YES, remember what happened but it is impossible to celebrate the lives of those who lost their lives. Ann Frank, The Diary of Ann Frank.
